What’s the difference between the Home 7 and Home 22?
The Home 7 and Home 7 Plus are both single-phase AC chargers and will deliver up to 7.3kW (32 amps) to your car. The Home 22 is a three-phase charger and can deliver up to 22kW—three times the power. Just keep in mind, you’ll need a three-phase power supply to get the full 22kW.

Will the colour fade if my charger is outdoors?
No. Our paint finishes are designed to withstand UK weather, rain, UV sun and frost. Metal and wood lids on all models are treated for durability, so your charger will stay looking great for years. We make our wood lids our of sustainable Accoya. Dimensionally stable, Accoya wood is a modified pine that undergoes an acetylation process. The result is real wood that doesn’t rot. It doesn’t warp, swell or shrink becuase the small water molecules inside the wood are effectively replaced by acetic acid. ie it's 'pickled'. Wooden lids will in say 10 years begin to change colour if they are exposed to UV light. The change will be very slight becuase we use specialist transluscent paint coats that protect from UV light. The metal fronts are power coated. Their colour will stay the same for many years.

Are your chargers future-proof?
Yes. We are deeply interested in technology and innovation in technology and our software and hardware teams have always held future-proofing as a core principle. Simpson & Partners EV chargers are designed to be compatible with evolving EV technology, including different charging speeds, connectors and smart energy management. This ensures that your charger continues to meet your charging needs over time. Our chargers are repairable and upgradeable which is more than some other brands. This means in a few years, when you want your charger to have the latest firmware, you'll be able to purchase the latest circuit board and swap it out. As an example, Gen 1 Home Series chargers came out in 2022. Intelligent Octopus Go wasn't available as a tariff then. For these customers, we offer a Version 3 upgrade kit for £85, so they can swap out their old circuit board and connect to this smart tariff.

I’m looking to get a quote for installing multiple EV chargers for my commercial property.
Absolutely. We provide tailored quotes for multiple charger installations at commercial sites. Here's how it works: Use our online configurator or contact our team to specify the number of chargers you need, power rating (7 kW or 22 kW), installation type (wall-mounted or freestanding), and any business features like RFID access, MID metering, or built-in RCBOs. We'll build a quote for you. If you don't have your own electricians, we can connect you with an independent electrical team who will complete a site survey. They'll need photos of your consumer unit, fuse board, and cable routes, plus details about your requirements (payment systems, solar PV, battery integration, etc.). You'll then receive a detailed quotation covering hardware, installation, any civil works or cable trenching, and commissioning. Government grants are available for charging infrastructure, so remember to ask your installer to claim these on your behalf. Branded colour finishes are available on request for business clients.

Is installing an EV charger a good long-term investment?
Absolutely. EV chargers are considered fixed appliances that increase your property's value and future-proof it for the growing EV market. Our data shows a single-socket charger pays for itself in approximately 12 months through guest charging revenue. After that, it's a permanent income stream with minimal ongoing effort required from you. Simon from Coillemore House addresses remote locations: "The nearest public charging station is about 40 minutes drive away, so it's not really practical for guests to use. It adds time to their day trips. It's much preferable for them to be able to plug in whilst back at the house relaxing in the hot tub or preparing dinner. Before we had the charger, guests with EVs just had to plug into a socket through a window. It wasn't ideal as we couldn't charge them easily and couldn't offer fast or efficient charging." Emma from Beaumont House adds: "Guests often think charging points are more essential than a breakfast service. If you need to charge, you need to charge!"

What is the difference between single-phase and three-phase power?
Single-phase power is the standard electricity supply for most UK homes — around 85% of domestic properties use it. It delivers electricity through one live wire and is protected by a single fuse (typically rated at 60, 80, or 100 amps). With single-phase, the maximum charging rate for an EV charger is usually 7.3kW, which is ideal for overnight charging and suits most households. Three-phase power, on the other hand, is more common in commercial buildings or larger homes. It uses three live wires, allowing electricity to flow more efficiently and at higher capacity. If your property has a three-phase supply, you can install a charger capable of delivering up to 22kW —useful for larger battery EVs or homes with multiple electric vehicles needing faster turnaround. In short: • Single-phase = up to 7.3kW charging, standard for most homes • Three-phase = up to 22kW charging, suited for high-demand setups, commercial car parks, multi-dwelling residences.

How do guests know how to use the charger?
It's simple. Provide clear instructions in your guestbook under "Practical Essentials" alongside check-in times and Wi-Fi details. If using Tap Electric, guests scan the unique QR code on the charger to start charging and pay automatically. A well-lit setup and basic signage make self-charging straightforward for all guests. At Nuthatch Retreat: "Guests are always happy to know that all they need to do is bring their cable and plug in after a day exploring the area. No need to download apps or add credit to accounts."

Will it actually increase my bookings?
Yes. EV drivers actively filter their search for properties with on-site charging, without it, you're invisible to this fast-growing market. As EV ownership increases, properties without charging are losing bookings year-round to those that offer it. Guests driving EV's need to charge it's an essential feature, not an extra. An on-site charger also generates better reviews and repeat bookings because it enhances the guest experience and shows you've thought of everything.

After that, it's pure profit, a permanent feature that keeps generating income stay after stay, year after year. What smart features set Simpson & Partners chargers apart from competitors?
Every S&P charger comes with smart app control, load management, and over-the-air updates. That means you can schedule charging, monitor usage, and future-proof your setup. How does the build quality of Simpson & Partners chargers compare to other brands?
We have an industry leading 10 year warranty on the enclosures. Our charger fronts are made of die-cast metal. We designed and chose metal for it's superior strength and durability. The vast majority of EV chargers on the market are made of plastic enclosures. This limits the shape, finish and colours. We then powder coat by hand to a very high finish. Compared to plastic ev chargers, our chargers are heavier and customers and installers often comment on how they can feel and see the build quality. Our charger lids are available in precision-CNC milled metal or sustainable Accoya real wood. With IP65-rated enclosures, premium materials, and rigorous testing, they’re built to withstand the UK’s toughest weather. Many other brands don’t match this level of durability, which means our chargers stay looking and performing like new for longer. ‍
