Setting a schedule allows your charger to start and stop charging automatically at your preferred times — perfect for taking advantage of off-peak energy tariffs.
1. Open the Simpson & Partners app
- If this is your first time setting up, the app will prompt you to set a general off-peak tariff. Follow the on-screen instructions if you’d like to use this feature.
2. Add a schedule
- Tap “Schedule” in the app.
- Set your start and end time for when you want the charging session to run.
- Tap “Save”.
- Once saved, the charger’s status light will turn yellow, and the next scheduled charging time will appear below.
3. Override a schedule
- To start charging immediately instead of waiting for the next schedule, press the Override button in the app.
- You can also press the physical override button located directly beneath the status light on the charger.
4. If your car doesn’t start charging at the scheduled time
This could be caused by:
- VW “deep sleep” issue – Some VW models may not wake up automatically to start charging.
- Randomised start – Some cars delay charging intentionally to reduce grid demand spikes.
5. Octopus Intelligent
- If you are using Octopus Intelligent, the ability to set schedules in the Simpson & Partners app is disabled, as Octopus controls the schedule automatically.
