How do I fix issues with my Wireless Energy Manager

Wireless Energy Manager – Quick Troubleshooting Guide

(Simpson & Partners Chargers)

What is the Wireless Energy Manager?

Your Wireless Energy Manager (WEM) is a small device installed near your fuse board.

It tells your Simpson & Partners charger how much electricity your home is using in real time. This allows the charger to:

  • Use spare energy efficiently
  • Prevent your home from being overloaded
  • Automatically adjust charging speed based on demand

Think of it as the charger’s “energy traffic controller”.

Does It Need Charging?

Yes — occasionally.

The Wireless Energy Manager is designed to harvest power from your home’s electrical system. However, every 6–9 months it may need a manual top-up charge via USB.

This is completely normal.

What Happens If It Runs Out of Battery or Loses Connection?

If the Wireless Energy Manager:

  • Runs out of battery, or
  • Loses wireless connection

Your charger will automatically switch to a safe default charging speed.

This speed is set during installation and ensures your home cannot be overloaded.

Your charger will still work — it may just charge slower than usual.

How to Recharge the Wireless Energy Manager

Charging it is simple:

Step 1 – Locate the Device

It is usually installed near your fuse board (consumer unit).

Step 2 – Plug in a USB Cable

Connect a standard USB cable to the device and plug it into a USB power source.

Step 3 – Leave to Charge

Allow it to charge for up to 10 hours to fully top up.

Step 4 – Check It Has Power

Press the pair button on the back of the device.

If you see a blue light, the device has power.

That’s it — your system should now return to normal dynamic charging.

If It Still Isn’t Working

If:

  • There is no blue light after charging
  • The charger continues charging at a reduced speed
  • You suspect it has lost connection

Please contact Simpson & Partners support and mention you have checked and charged the Wireless Energy Manager.
