If your charger isn’t starting at the scheduled time or behaving unexpectedly, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
1. Check the charger schedule
- Open the Simpson & Partners app and verify the schedule settings.
- Make sure the start and end times are correctly set and do not conflict with other schedules.
- When a schedule is active, the charger status light will turn yellow, the schedule button in the app will also show yellow, and the app will display the next scheduled charging session.
2. Check your car
- Ensure that your vehicle does not have its own charging schedule that could override the charger’s schedule.
- Make sure your car isn’t set to limit charging, which may prevent it from starting at the scheduled time.
3. VW vehicles
- Some VW models have a “deep sleep” issue, meaning the car may not wake automatically to start charging.
- If this applies, either set the charging schedule directly in the car or wake the car manually by locking and unlocking it with the key fob.
4. Octopus Intelligent users
- If you are using Octopus Intelligent, schedules in the Simpson & Partners app are overridden. Octopus manages the charging schedule automatically, which may differ from the times you’ve set in the app.
- Ensure that the charger is properly connected to Octopus Intelligent to follow their schedule correctly.
5. Override the schedule
- To start charging immediately, press the Override button in the app or the physical override button under the status light.
6. Additional checks
- If charging still doesn’t start at the scheduled time, test with another car to rule out vehicle-specific issues.
