What is surge protection?

At Simpson & Partners, your safety comes first. That’s why we use a layered approach to surge protection with devices installed both inside the charger and when we handle the installation, at the very beginning of the circuit.

In simple terms, surge protection helps guard your home and appliances like your TV, fridge, and washing machine from unexpected bursts of electricity. These can occur during power cuts, lightning storms, or when there’s a fault in the wiring. Without protection, these sudden “surges” can damage your electrical system, including important parts like your fuse box and internal wiring.

By installing surge protection at both the consumer unit (Type 2 SPD) and within the charger itself (Type 3 SPD), we’re helping ensure your entire system is protected from the first connection to the final socket.
